About
I’ve been photographing my surroundings since I was a teenager, shooting with 110 film cassete cameras! I spent years shooting slide film before going through a hiatus while raising two sons and moving around as a U.S. Marine officer - although I still always had a point-and-shoot camera of some kind through those years! I finally made the move into digital single-lens reflex (DSLR) cameras in 2017, and have made a few upgrades since that time. My current gear centers heavily on Canon bodies and lenses, although I also employ the excellent Panasonic Lumix S1 mirrorless body when I can use its unique strengths.
I love to travel, as most photographers seem to do, although my concern for my carbon footprint - and most recently the Covid-19 pandemic - have prompted me to carefully consider where and how I travel for my photos. I’m working on a special collection that I’m calling my “Backyard” photos - many of which were literally taken in our backyard and gardens, or from areas within about an hour’s drive from our home. Stay tuned for details on that!
